As you venture into the market of getting DVD Art produced, you'll discover there are basically 2 main sources for the production of wraparound DVD art your used to seeing in the stores. There is the art produced by internal movie house Marketing teams and that of freelancers.
Of course, there's those who choose to produce the art themselves. Which in some cases turns out fine. Although in many cases if not produced correctly can actually hurt your opportunities in the market for selling, pitching, and presenting. As you well know, to an average buyer.... shelf appeal is everything! - The general notion is, if it looks cheap, then the film must be poor! If it's not being rented then chances are it's not being bought. Don't damage your hard work by releasing it with un-imaginative, shotzy cover art (don't forget the back!...how often have you looked at a cover and flipped it around to evaluate it on what's on the back as well?)
Freelancers are becoming the primary source of pro DVD art production. Not only are you JUST hiring a designer, but an artist and illustrator as well. This can make all the difference in HOW your materials are presented. It can give your piece that extra edge over the straight photography, floating heads and common formula-driven DVD cover arts... also if you are new to DVD design, you'll quickly find that there are parameters, measurements, and quality issues that may have not been apparent before.... or worse on press!

Details: 1) We can produce full DVD wraparounds in high resolution files. 2) We have most high resolution DVD logos on hand to add to your DVD Design . 3) We can create your "Credit Block" to standard as your used to seeing on posters and DVD's ("Credit Block" = the text at the bottom of movie posters) 4) Art is created as a 300 DPI .tif file 5) Layout is created as a Quark Xpress file. 6) Art is sent per email for approval, final files are sent out per CD. |
Materials needed from client:
1) Text or Word .doc with your DVD details, synopsis, taglines...etc
2) Logo, if you have one, or we can create one.
3) Any thoughts regarding the DVD art, since we are most likely
not familiar with the release.
4) If you have a pre-screener, or copy we appreciate a copy sent
out to us to get a feel for what is needed.
5) We would need any/all production photos to work up your
design.
If NO materials are available we can do screen captures from your
DVD , but prefer higher res photos sent. Designs are created using a combination
of photography, illustration and mixed media approaches.
